Nikon hits the 24.5 megapixel mark with the release of their new baby – the Nikon D3X. The model information was leaked on Friday but today is the official release of this ‘extremely professional’ dSLR camera. With people searching the internet for this new gadget using search terms such as nikon d3x price, nikon d3, d3x nikon, d3x, and digitalkamera.de, this new dSLR is truly something to get a hold of.

And believe it or not, the Nikon D3X price is a whopping $7,999.95! Whoooaaa! This baby is expensive eh!

As for those who are confused if Nikon D3X uses a similar sensor as Sony Alpha DSLR-A900, the answer might be a NO. Nikon clarifies that what they are using is “a Nikon designed sensor” that may or may not be manufactured by Sony. But this kind of statement pretty much translates to ‘pretty similar’ so I think you get the picture.

However, Nikon D3X is quite in an advantage since this new gadget has a smaller pixel pitch of 5.49 microns. So, there goes the similarity.

Other features / specification of Nikon D3X:

  • Sensitivity range runs from ISO 100 to ISO 1600
  • With a Lo 1 of ISO 50 and Hi 1 and 2 of ISO 3200 and ISO 6400
  • Offer a 5:4 (8×10) crop mode at 20.4 megapixels
